CEREMONIAL TURN-OVER OF THREE MOTOR BOATS AND SIXTEEN CCTV CHANNELS TO THE PHILIPPINE PORTS AUTHORITY

On March 27, 2017, the turn-over activity was held during the traditional Monday Flag Raising infront of Mabini Hall, Malacañang Palace. It was attended by Ms. Elizabeth Jones, Chief of Political Affairs Section, Canadian Embassy, Manila; Executive Secretary Salvador C Medialdea; Undersecretary Allan C Guisihan, Executive Director, Philippine Center on Transnational Crime and Ambassador Anselmo Simeon P Pinili, Special Envoy on Transnational Crime.

 
MARITIME SECURITY POLICY STRATEGIC DIALOGUE

On March 22-23,  2017, the activity held at Marriott Hotel, Pasay City was hosted by National Coast Watch Center (NCWC) that aimed to strengthen front line institutional capacity to combat Terrorism, Piracy and Armed Robbery, to reduce the vulnerability of ships and port facilities to security risk. INTERPOL and the agencies in the said dialogue shared vital information that could help improve the Philippines’ maritime security.

 
PROJECT PACIFIC WORKING GROUP MEETING ON THE NEXUS BETWEEN ORGANIZED CRIME AND TERRORISM

On February 21-23, 2017, the activity took place at Marriott Hotel, Cebu City. The meeting was attended by the senior counter-terrorism specialists, serious crime investigators and financial crime investigators coming from INTERPOL member countries and relevant stakeholders within and outside Southeast Asia. The highlights of the activity were the following presentations by each representative:

  • Presentation about Global and Regional experience on terror-crime nexus; and
  • Presentation on Asia-Pacific Regional experience on terror-crime nexus.
There were information gaps identified during the process, such as Prison radicalization; Extortion; Funding requirements; Drug trafficking; Human trafficking; and the Expansion of the Organized Crime-terror groups from ISIS and Taliban.
 
OPERATION CHASE, JANUARY 30- FEBRUARY 04, 2017, CEBU CITY
This programme is a global effort to counter the international smuggling of dual use chemicals in the manufacture of weapons designed to kill and injure indiscriminately. This operation is simultaneously held in the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. This operation was conducted at Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) and Cebu International Seaport. The National Coordinating Team (NCT) consists of representatives from Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Bureau of Immigration, Bureau of Customs, Bureau of Quarantine, National Coast Watch Center, NCWCS and PCTC.
 
VISIT TO THE PHILIPPINES BY INTERPOL DELEGATES REPRESENTED BY MR. SIMON FERNAN, MS. ZUZANA DECIKOVA AND MR. HUU NGO NGUYEN PRELUDE TO INTERPOL OPERATION SUNBIRD III

A courtesy call to Undersecretary Allan C Guisihan, Executive Director, PCTC/Head, IP Manila NCB Secretariat and to the Chief, Philippine National Police, Police Director General Ronald M Dela Rosa immediately formed meeting which was held at the National Headquarters, Philippine National Police, Camp Crame, Quezon City on 20 January 2017 This attendess were from the PNP Directorial Staff, Philippine Center on Transnational Crime, National Coast Watch Center and Bureau of Immigration. SUNBIRD III Opn 27 March to 5 April 2017.

 
SPECIAL MEETING IN LAPU-LAPU CITY RE BOMBING INCIDENT IN DAVAO CITY
PCTC-VFO presided the above meeting in LCPO Conference Room which was attended by eleven (11) participants on September 6, 2016. The said groups (Financial & Commercial) are among the stakeholders of LCPO, whose members are actively joining the monthly meeting initiated by LCPO.
Topics discussed were the following:
1.) Reiteration of vigilant monitoring of individual/groups with nefarious plan/s;
2.) Cooperation between the police and the different establishments in crime prevention and target hardening;
3.) Immediate relay of information on terroristic plan/s gathered/received to the concerned agencies;
4.) Cascading/dissemination of the topics discussed to the personnel of the different establishments; and
5.) Sustaining and strengthening the above groups in Lapu-lapu City.
 
NATIONAL CONSCIOUSNESS WEEK AGAINST COUNTERFEIT MEDICINE
 
PCTC participated in the activity which was held on September 6, 2016 at Food and Drug Administration, Alabang, Muntinlupa. The Food and Drug Administration, the national regulatory authority mandated to ensure the safety, efficacy, and quality of health products including drug products, is the convener of the Coalition for Safe Medicines (CSM), a multi-stakeholder group to spearhead the initiate action towards safer medicines by acting against unregistered counterfeit, substandard, or otherwise unsafe medicines. This is one of the activities of CSM to promote the said CSM..
