

INTERPOL Red Notice
To seek the provisional arrest of a wanted person with a view to extradition based on an arrest warrant or court decision.

INTERPOL Black Notice
To seek information about unidentified bodies.

INTERPOL Blue Notice
To collect additional information about a person’s identity, location, or illegal activities in relation to a criminal matter.

INTERPOL Orange Notice
To warn police, public entities and other international organizations of dangerous materials, criminal acts or events that pose a potential threat to public safety.

INTERPOL Green Notice
To provide warnings or criminal intelligence about persons who have committed criminal offences and are likely to repeat these crimes in other countries.

INTERPOL Purple Notice
To provide information on modus operandi, objects, devices and hiding places used by criminals.

INTERPOL Yellow Notice
To help locate missing persons, especially minors, or to help identify persons who are not able to identify themselves.

INTERPOL – United Nations Special Notice
To alert police of groups and individuals who are the targets of UN sanctions against Al Qaeda and the Taliban.

Notices must meet legal criteria
A Notice is published only if it complies with INTERPOL’s Constitution and fulfils all conditions for processing the information in accordance with our Rules on the Processing of Data. This ensures the legality and quality of information, and the protection of personal data.
For example, a Notice will not be published if it violates Article 3 of INTERPOL’s Constitution, which forbids the Organization from undertaking any intervention or activities of a political, military, religious or racial character.
Requests for notices are reviewed for compliance with INTERPOL’s rules by our Notices and Diffusions Task Force; this is a specialized multilingual and multidisciplinary task force comprising lawyers, police officers and operational specialists.
